The essence of our ministry is provision. Our deepest desire and prayer is that you would come to know the power of Endurance through the comfort, encouragement and hope that God provides. We offer a biblical perspective and recommend resources to help you experience Endurance along your journey.
The services and resources of Endurance extend to anyone who is suffering—often by referral of a friend, family member, pastor or health care provider. Please use the menu on the left to search through the resources and services we have available to individuals, churches, support groups and health care professionals.
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God.
For just as the sufferings of Christ flow over into our lives, so also through Christ our comfort overflows. If we are distressed, it is for your comfort and salvation; if we are comforted it is for your comfort, which produces in you patient endurance of the same sufferings we suffer. 2 CORINTHIANS 1:3-6
We all love a good story—especially one that portrays the ups and downs of life and invites us to say: “Me too. I feel that too.” Story validates our pain, physically and emotionally. Story reminds us that we are not alone in our experience. Story creates a readiness of the heart to receive truth.
The founding of Endurance was inspired by a story. When people read about Dave Dravecky, the Major League Baseball pitcher whose arm was amputated due to cancer, they immediately connect with the story. Something much bigger than baseball captured hearts across the nation: thousands of letters and requests were sent by hurting people who caught a glimpse of faith in the midst of suffering.
We came to understand how a story of suffering provides comfort like nothing else can. So now, as part of the ministry of Endurance, we share real honest-to-God stories in all kinds of ways—through our website, email updates, mailings and events—so you can receive the comfort of others who are on this journey too.
To find other people’s stories, go to Find Resources and select the “stories” category.
For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope. ROMANS 15:4
Encouragement comes when we share what God says about suffering and what He promises for the believer on the journey. A biblical perspective on suffering opens the heart to receive truth.
“Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” JOHN 8:31, WORDS OF JESUS
Truth delivers a genuine kind of freedom—not from the symptoms of suffering, but from the false expectations placed upon us. The journey, hard as it is, becomes more bearable as we release the extra burden of those assumptions about how we should cope with our circumstances.
One of our most popular resources of encouragement is The Encourager Magazine Archive, where, over the years we have discussed a wide variety of topics you or someone you love may be struggling with.
We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation. And this hope will not lead to disappointment. ROMANS 5:3-5, NLT
This hope is a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls. HEBREWS 6:19, NLT
All of us who travel the road of suffering are broken people—the pieces of our lives held together by the grace of God. As we tell our stories, we are simply messengers of the hope we have found, not in ourselves—but in Jesus. As we walk alongside you, our greatest desire would be that you embrace the hope that comes through Jesus. He is our provision through the journey of suffering. He is the source of Endurance.
Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. 2 CORINTHIANS 4:16-18
Hope is God’s story through His son Jesus Christ and the promise that this life isn’t all there is.
