A Note of Encouragement

Trust God from the bottom of your heart;
Don’t try to figure out everything on your own.
Listen for God’s voice in everything you do,
everywhere you go;
He’s the one who will keep you on track.
Don’t assume you know it all.
PROVERBS 3:5-6 (THE MESSAGE)

Life is a puzzle where many of the pieces don’t fit. Especially at first, when the puzzle is dumped in our lap. It takes a while to sort through the pieces, to turn them all right side up to see the overall pattern, to spot the connections. I don’t think God holds it against us when we can’t understand everything that happens in this jigsaw world of ours. And especially because some of the key pieces to that puzzle are missing.

Maybe what God wants us to do is to put together as much of life’s puzzle as we can and then trust him with the missing pieces – however many those pieces may be, however large, however gaping the holes left in our theology may be as a result.

The question changes from “Why, God?” to “Can I trust Him with my unanswered questions?”

But those who trust in the Lord
will find new strength.
They will soar high on wings like eagles.
They will run and not grow weary.
They will not walk and not faint.
ISAIAH 40:31 (NLT)
